a) Botley Road – closes on Friday!

The county council have recognised that Botley Road presently offers poor journey experiences for road users.

Building upon objectives set out in the Oxford Transport Strategy, a study of Botley Road was completed in 2016 which confirmed, following stakeholder feedback, the value of a high-quality route that prioritised sustainable transport modes to ease urban congestion, reduce journey times and improve journey experience.

The Botley Road consultation is underway at present, closing date is Friday 21st June.  This is a major scheme and will affect the experience of cycle users over several decades to come, so the design must create cycle paths that are continuous, safe, and attractive. We have considerable anxieties about the current proposal, and it would be good if you could add your voice to the consultation.

The main way you can help is to fill in the online feedback form by 21st June at latest.  This is important as the more responses the county council gets on a theme the more attention they will give it.  You are very welcome to use the content of our  our headline response and more detailed draft response in developing your own response.  We would also welcome your comments on our response to refine and improve it – please email contact@cyclox.org.

Please do help out as this is such an important consultation.
