A selection of Cyclox papers
St Ebbes: The County have been asking about how St Ebbes should be improved between Bonn Square and the Pembroke Street junction. We said we’d prefer it to be paved and level, and the junction to be like New Inn Hall Street, with some additional cycle parking.
Kennington Roundabout: James Dawton, CTC right to ride representative for Oxford and recent recruit to the Cyclox committee, prepared this detailed report for the county council on the redesign of Kennington roundabout and has kindly agreed that we can publish it here.

Local Transport Plan 3: The County (at last) wants to do something for cycling. We are trying to make sure they do it effectively, by concentrating on the inner main roads.
Cycle parking: We are trying to get dead bikes removed, extra stands (particularly near Carfax), and one or more covered/guarded parking “hubs”.
Bike Polite: We think cyclists will get a better deal if they are polite to other road users – not scaring pedestrians, and not egregiously cycling through red lights. We are talking to the police and the County about using this idea from Edinburgh.
Queen Street: It’s much better since the bus stops were removed, and it’s a pain not being able to use it. So we’re lobbying for cyclists to be able to use it more of the time.
Frideswide Square: The County wants to make Frideswide Square a much better gateway to Oxford, but how? We have some ideas…
London Road: The next (and last) phase is the shopping area. We have persuaded the County to ease the narrowings that were in earlier designs, so that cyclists shouldn’t actively be squeezed. We’ve yet to persuade the County that cycle lanes should be retained and made continuous, for their known safety benefits.
Transform Oxford: We support improving the City Centre for pedestrians, but access for bicycles needs to be included. Cyclox’s position
