The next version of the Oxfordshire Local Transport Plan (LTP3) is currently being drafted.
Final draft for consultation: General Chapters & Oxford Chapter. Summary.
At present, until 2011, Oxfordshire’s priorities and strategies governing spending money on the way we travel are determined by LTP2, which started in 2006, and prioritises investment in bus priority. The next Plan is being now being drafted by County Council officers in the Transport section. Cyclox is contributing vigorously to the consultations on Objectives, and on Schemes, Policies and Scenarios. For the strategic issues, we join forces with cyclist and pedestrian advocacy groups around the county.
So far, the Objectives are a definite improvement on LTP2, with Developing Cycling and Walking being one of the three high-priority objectives for Oxford itself (and for the rest of the County too). Cyclox has submitted a clear plan for removing the gaps on the existing cycle network, concentrating on providing cycle lanes on main roads, and starting with the inner main roads. We have also responded to the Policies consultation, suggesting some tightening of the language used. The County seems to be positively interested in cycling at the moment, but we will believe it only when they start delivering!
