\nWe collaborate with local residents and community groups to support more people to cycle in Oxford and Oxfordshire. \n

Sanctuary Wheels<\/h3>

Following our bikes for key workers project, in 2022 Cyclox worked with Asylum Welcome<\/a> and Active Oxfordshire<\/a> to provide bikes for refugees. We refurbished another 380 bikes donated by members of the public and passed them on to refugees across the county, including a large number of Ukrainains fleeing the war in their country. This project is now run by Asylum Welcome<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>

Short film competitions<\/h3>

In 2015 and 2017 one of our former trustees Jake Backus ran two short film competitions to highlight local budding filmmakers and capture the experience of cycling in Oxford on film. \n

Bikes for key workers<\/h3>

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Cyclox started refurbishing donated bikes to give to key workers. With the help of around 20 furloughed mechanics in the city, and a number of partner organisations, we handed out around 380 refurbished bikes. These allowed key workers to travel to work safely and quickly.<\/p><\/div>

Broken Spoke<\/span><\/h3>

Broken Spoke offers DIY bike repair workshops, bike mechanics courses (including women and transgender-people only sessions) and cycle training for all. This bike co-op is a not-for-profit social enterprise and lists affordable rates depending on ability to pay.<\/p> Learn more<\/a><\/div> <\/div>

JoyRiders Oxford<\/span><\/h3>

JoyRiders runs free, women-only group cycle rides led by trained female volunteers. Rides follow safe routes at a steady pace, encouraging beginners to join in. Leaders also offer support with practical issues such as fixing punctures, working out safe routes, or the best locks to buy. <\/p> Learn more<\/a><\/div> <\/div>

CyclAbility<\/span><\/h3>

CyclAbility provides inclusive cycling facilities for adults in a safe and supportive environment.
